Discount Programs
Retool is excited to offer discount options for Startups, Nonprofits, and Students/Educators, to enable people and organizations at any stage to explore their full potential with Retool's Team or Business plan.
Please note: Retool's discount programs cannot be used for our Enterprise tier or any annual plans. Retool's discount programs can only be used for monthly Team or Business plans.
Can I apply to multiple discount programs?
Organizations using Retool can only be accepted to one of the three discount programs. If you've been accepted to one discount program, you will not be able to apply to another one.
Startup Program
With Retool for Startups, eligible Startups receive a 100% off coupon for one year, with a value up to $60k, to access a monthly subscription to Retool's Team or Business plan. Then, they'll receive a 25% off discount for their second year on Retool.
Eligibility
Organizations must meet all of the following to be eligible for the Startup Program:
- You are bootstrapped, angel-funded, debt-funded, pre-seed, seed, or Series A
- You have raised less than $10 million in total funding
- You were founded within the last 10 years
- You are a new Retool customer on the monthly Team or Business plan
Those who are not eligible for the Startup Program:
- Retool customers that have already been on a paid plan for multiple billing cycles
- Organizations that have been part of Retool's Startup program in the past
How do I apply to the Startup Program?
Step 1: First, sign up for a free Retool organization (Cloud or Self-hosted) and upgrade to the monthly Team or Business plan. This will require you to input card information, but you will not be billed immediately.
On Cloud, you can upgrade to the Team or Business plan in the Billing settings for your organization and clicking "Subscribe". On Self-hosted, the billing admin can upgrade to the Team or Business plan by logging into the Self-hosted Portal, navigating to the "Plans and Billing" section, then clicking "Subscribe".
Step 2: Then, submit the Startup Program Application.
You will receive a confirmation email upon acceptance to the program, and the discount will be applied automatically to your first invoice at the end of your first billing cycle.
The 100% off discount will expire after one year. However, you will receive a 25% off discount on your paid plan the following year. After your second year, you'll graduate from the Startup Program.
How will I know if my Startup application is accepted?
If your application is accepted, you'll be notified via email. If you haven't heard back after one week, please reach out to startups@retool.com.
My Startup discount is expiring, and I want to downgrade to the Free plan.
On Cloud, you can downgrade to the Free plan in the Billing settings for your organization by clicking "Downgrade". On Self-hosted, the billing admin can downgrade to the Free plan by logging into the Self-hosted Portal, navigating to the "Plans and Billing" section, then clicking "Downgrade".
Can I get an extension on the Startup discount?
We are not able to offer extensions on the dates that discounts will expire. The 100% discount will last for one year from the approval date, then transition to a 25% discount for the second year.
Can I re-apply to the Startup Program after I've been enrolled?
An organization can only be part of the Startup Program once. If you've already joined, you will not be able to apply again.
My Startup discount expired. Why am I being charged?
If you do not make any changes, Retool will automatically continue on your current plan and charge the card on file.
How do I become a Retool for Startups partner?
Retool partners with venture capital funds, accelerators, incubators, and startup programs to share offers. If you'd like to add Retool to your deal book or add an offer to our deal book, please contact startups@retool.com.
Nonprofit Program
Eligible Nonprofits can get a monthly coupon of $1,625 for a monthly subscription to Retool's Team or Business plan. This is intended to allow for full coverage of 25 Business Standard users on the monthly plan.
Eligibility
You're eligible for the Nonprofit program if you are:
- Currently working at a nonprofit organization and are registered for Retool with your nonprofit email address
Those who are not eligible for the Nonprofit Program:
- Government or education customers
- For-profit entities, including software companies and other service providers to the nonprofit sector
How do I apply to the Nonprofit Program?
After signing up for a free Retool organization (Cloud or Self-hosted), please use the same email to submit the Nonprofit Program Application.
Once I'm accepted to the Nonprofit Program, how do I use the discount?

Education Program
Eligible students and educators can receive a 100% off discount to use on any monthly Retool Team or Business plan.
Eligibility
You're eligible for the Education Program if you are:
- Currently a student or individual educator and are registered for Retool with your education email address
Those who are not eligible for the Education Program:
- Administrative, back-office, and operational staff at school, colleges, and universities
- Former student and/or educators that have retained a .edu email address
- Edtech companies and other service providers to the education industry
- Any other education-adjacent customers that aren't students or educators
What happens when I graduate or am otherwise no longer eligible for the Education Program?
You'll be notified by our team and given a timeline for exiting the program.
How do I apply to the Education Program?

Discount Programs FAQ
I have a discount, but it's not applying. Instead, my credit card is being charged.
It's possible that you have multiple accounts, and the wrong account is being charged. Alternatively, your account may be in a different currency than your credits/discount. Please Contact Support to resolve these issues.
