Overview
Usage of Assist is measured by prompting credits, which are consumed every time you prompt Assist. Prompting credits are allocated on a per-user basis.
Prompting credits
Prompting credits are how Retool keeps track of your usage when you leverage Assist for app building or editing. Prompts that require Assist to perform more complex reasoning or build larger outputs will use more credits, while simpler prompts will use fewer.

All users have access to Assist for free for a limited time. Organizations on the Free plan are subject to the following limit.

Organization admins can monitor Assist usage in Settings > Plans & Billing under the Assist billing tab.

Individual users on Free, Team, and Business plans can monitor their individual usage using the Credits button in the Assist interface at any time to view their usage during the current billing cycle.

Will Assist be free forever?
Assist is free to all users for a limited time. Any and all pricing changes will be communicated to affected customers with at least two months of notice.

What is the billing unit for Assist usage?

No. Your prompting credits refresh at the end of your billing cycle, aligning with your plan's allocations. Reach out to your admin for information on when your billing cycle ends.
Can I bring my own keys (BYOK) with Retool?
Enterprise customers can bring their own key for Assist. They must configure their key for both OpenAI and Anthropic.
Is there a way to prevent my organization’s users from using Assist?
Admins can disable Assist within their Retool account. Navigate to Settings > AI. Find the Assist Tab setting and toggle the button to the off position.
