Retool Vectors

The following lab demonstrates how to create vectors using documents and URL(s).

Requirements​

  • Retool AI + Vectors enabled under Settings > Retool AI.

Steps​

Create vector using a Text file​

The following steps will focus on importing a simulated owner's manual for a vehicle.

  • Download the following file that represents a simulated owner's automotive maintenance manual .
  • Select Resources > Retool Vectors > Create new > Vector.
  • In the Create a Vector dialog, we specify a Vector name and specify a Vector type of Document and the select Create.
  • The next dialog will show No document found. Select Add document > Upload file.
  • Drag and drop the previous downloaded file and select Upload 1 file.

The following demonstrates the previous steps:

Create vector using a Web URL​

The following steps will focus on importing content hosted at a Web URL, for example the company may have a technical support note website that can provide additional maintenance detail. This example focuses on just importing Retool University labs.

  • Select Resources > Retool Vectors > Create new > Vetor.
  • Provide the Vector name, select Site URLs, and select Create.
  • Select Add URLs.
  • Under Links to crawl, specify https://docs.retool.com/education.
  • Under Link prefix to exclude, specify https://docs.retool.com.
  • Select Fetch and wait for one or more Document names to be listed.

Web crawling supports navigating only through 25 layers of nested paths with a timeout of 15 seconds.
