Permissions on Free and Team plans

On Free and Team plans, Retool provides a fixed set of default groups that control what users can do with apps, workflows, agents, and resources. You cannot create custom groups or configure role-based access control on these plans.

Default groups

The default groups and permissions differ depending on the plan your organization uses. All pricing plans have Admin and All Users groups. Business and Enterprise plan users have more granular control over groups, and can create their own custom groups.

The following built-in permission groups cannot be modified or removed, and the access levels cannot be changed.

What you can do

Organization admins on Free and Team plans can:

  • Add and remove users from the Admin and All Users groups.
  • Invite new users to the organization.
  • Set users as organization admins.

You cannot create custom groups, define custom roles, or configure per-object access on these plans. The Permissions page shows your default groups in read-only mode.

Upgrade to the Business plan to create custom groups and configure role-based access control. See Permissions on Business.
